“Croí”, UCD, Dublin

“Croí” was commissioned by McCann Fitzgerald and generously donated to the UCD Sutherland School of law. I was inspired by current student Elaine Egan’s award winning essay on “Bunreacht Na Heireann”, as well as the light infused architectural space of the building created by Moloney O ‘Beirne Architects.

“Croi” is not just a visual explosion of the joyous celebration of colour, but also a metaphor for intellectual concepts that the Sutherland School of Law stands for; debate, intrigue and interaction, physically placed at the heart of the building, where students and staff circulate.

The creative process involved site visits and the making of 3D models, as well as mixing and playing with colour combinations. My inspirations for colour comes from nature – both macro and micro – the skies above as well as pebbles and lichens.
